micrAgard™, Two Years of Intensive Research

The high tenacity yet lightweight properties of Openhouse Products’ micrAgard™ system are exceptional. Not only does the wipe-clean micrAgard™ material offer full antimicrobial protection, but it also offers excellent visibility and reflective properties too. Continuously developed over a number of years, our vision was to create a material that was intrinsically safe but also flame retardant to aircraft standards, UV stable, rot proof and also washable at 60°C. It’s widely known that Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) is the third most widely produced polymer in the world. However, what isn’t widely known that it also happens to be one of the world’s most harmful materials. That’s why we set out on a two year mission to design an environmentally friendly fabric that is not only good for the environment but better for the end user than PVC. Our extensive research, combined with the vision of creating this truly exceptional material led us to the creation of micrAgard™. The features mentioned above were met, this combined with exceptional build quality from the in-house team at Openhouse, provides for quality products that offer stylish, yet practical products designed to last a lifetime. Infection Control has always been a challenge. Together we can minimise the cross-contamination of bacteria and help prevent it from spreading with micrAgard™. As well as being anti-microbial to prevent cross-contamination of bacteria, micrAgard™ also meets the CAA and EASA standards for being flame-retardant if required.
