After launching their bariatric training mannequin at last year’s Emergency Services Show, Bariquins are back for their second year. Weighing 25 stone, (that’s 350lb or 159kg) the Bariquin can be carried by just one person -providing he’s not assembled.
With the prevalence of obesity becoming an everyday issue in the emergency and health care sectors, Bariquins’ mannequins have been designed to assist training personnel working within such areas, to safely and efficiently manoeuvre or rescue plus-size people whilst maintaining their subject’s dignity.
The mannequins’ body and limb sections are manufactured exclusively for Bariquins by Openhouse Products. Chris Jarratt, Managing Director of Bariquins said “Quality is very important to us at Bariquins and that’s why we approached Openhouse Products. Their 30 years plus experience of providing quality workmanship and their use of superior materials like micrAgard™ are ideal for our mannequins.” Each Bariquin mannequin contains 15 weighted sections, the biggest being only 16kg, with handles fitted to all heavier parts. Decals and markings assist assembly in under 10 minutes. The use of the micrAgard™ material allows Bariquins’ mannequins to withstand the most demanding of environments due to the impact resistant material which is also easy to clean with soap and water. A variety of both prone and sitting scenarios can be rehearsed with a Bariquin. That can translate to less time at incidents, fewer manual handling injuries to staff or their patient, new techniques devised or existing ones improved. Bariquins will be situated at Stand P37 (directly facing the West Midlands Fire Service area).
